If you have some time to surf the web today or tomorrow, let me encourage you to take a look at new "Google Map layer" which will allow you to put faces and names to the statistics of those who have given their lives for this country in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The layer is linked from a new site called "Map the Fallen"
The author describes his creation thusly:
"This Memorial Day I would like to share with you a personal project of mine that uses Google Earth to honor the more than 5,700 American and Coalition servicemen and women that have lost their lives in Iraq and Afghanistan. I have created a map for Google Earth that will connect you with each of their stories—you can see photos, learn about how they died, visit memorial websites with comments from friends and families, and explore the places they called home and where they died."

I've already visited the friend I buried who lost his life in the war in Iraq. You may know others. Seeing their faces and remembering their story is one of the fitting ways I can imagine to mark Memorial Day this year.
